Book Report Rubric Book Report Rubric The student will write a book report (at least two pages) on a book of their choice. They will need to include the title, author, setting, their favorite and least favorite parts, as well as summarize the plot and talk about the main characters. Content of Report Report contains main characters, setting, and summary of the book.	Outstanding The report covers all of the necessary content in detail (10 of the required parts).	Average The report covers most of the necessary content in detail: (at least 5 of the required parts).	Needs Improvement The report does not cover all of the necessary material.
Organization of Report The report is written in a logical sequence.	Outstanding The report follows a very logical path. It flows well together and is extremely well-written.	Average The report follows somewhat of a logical path. It jumps around a little bit, though.	Needs Improvement The report jumps around a lot and is hard to follow.
Conventions of Report	Outstanding The report is written very neatly. It has very few minor errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling, or no errors at all.	Average The report is written neatly and has few minor errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling.	Needs Improvement The report is not written neatly and has many errors in grammar, punctuation, and/or spelling.
Opinion	Outstanding An opinion of the book is given with strong reasons/ support.	Average An opinion of the book is given with weak reasons.	Needs Improvement An opinion is given without reasons.
