While critical thinking is a characteristic that defines how ones checks beliefs and decides relevant interpretations of facts presented, students utilization of these fundamental skill are important to academic success. Evaluation of arguments helps students evaluate different points of view in order to place judgments and values based on the importance and extent of each view.

3. Uses logic to properly apply statements that are valid or invalid in the evaluation of the argument.
