224.01 evaluating and training the green horse Performance Horse Assessment Final Exam Students will research the subject as noted in the 223.01 syllabi. Students will provide a 4 page typed paper along with a one page bibliography siting all resources used in developing the research paper. -Students will provide a power point presentation in order to evoke the interest of their classmates. --Students will use index cards to provide backup for their presentation. No reading from the power point Presentation will be graded on thoroughness of subject matter Ability of the presenter to evoke the interest of their classmates by capturing their attention. Performance Horse Assessment

Conformation assessment	Failure No effort was made to discuss horse's conformation flaws. Student has no understanding of basic equine conformation.	Poor Student only focused on the most rudimentary conformation assessment. Information was vague and inconclusive; horse's athletic ability was not accurately assessed	Fair Student included the horses conformation in detail;listing faults in order of importance, as well supplying comparison horses in determining horses athletic ability	Good Student covered all aspects of horses conformation, both cosmetic and structural, comparison horses were provided Athletic ability was assessed, as well as conformation required for career longevity.	Excellent Student provided excellent examples of both structural and cosmetic elements of horse's conformation. Students assessment was professional, accurate, and logical.
Aptitude Assessment	Failure Student provided no information as to discipline horse would be most successful in and in what capacity	Poor Basic information was discovered as to horses temperment, work ethic, and discipline that would be most beneficial to horse in long term career capacity	Fair Student discussed in detail temperament, work ethic, response to performance pressure and career best suited for horse based on this information	Good Assessment of work ethic, temperment, suitability, and discipline options as well as most marketable avenue for horse were detailed	Excellent Excellent intrepretation of horse's emotional make up, strong suits and discipline as well as accurate determination of where horse would be most marketable
Poster/Power point presentation	Failure No presentation was provided	Poor Pictures were of poor quality, and information was erratic and inconclusive	Fair Some pictures present, however somewhat vague and incomplete as applied to over all project, horses were not represented with enough contrast adn comparison	Good Power point or Poster was quite colorful, provided a sense of "complementing" the presentation and making it more complete.	Excellent
Presentation style	Failure None given	Poor Read from the screen directly. Project was pretty much random. No clear pattern of organization present. Appeared scattered and not well prepared to present.	Fair Attempted to use note cards as needed. Was somewhat spontaneous and lively in presentation style. Still lacked clarity and organization was somewhat sketchy.	Good Well organized, thought provoking. Used index cards as a back up only. Was well versed in subject matter. Encouraged questions by listeners.	Excellent
