Writing Rubric Writing Conventions
	ALWAYS 4 pts	USUALLY 3 pts	SOMETIMES 2 pts	NOT YET 1 pts
Directionality Did student write sentences from left to right?	ALWAYS Always writes sentences from left to right	USUALLY Usually writes sentences from left to right, but forgets once or twice and doesn't continue all the way to the right.	SOMETIMES Sometimes writes sentences from left to right, but forgets a lot and sometimes start in the middle.	NOT YET Does not know how to write sentences from left to right yet. Begin writing any where on the page.
Capitalization Did student begin sentences with a capital letter?	ALWAYS Always begins sentences with a capital letter	USUALLY Usually begins sentences with a capital, but forgets once or twice and use lower case letters instead.	SOMETIMES Only sometimes begins sentences with a capital letter. Forgets many times and uses lower case letters instead.	NOT YET Does not know how to begin sentences with a capital letter yet . Forgets all the time and use lower case letters instead.
Spacing Did student leave spaces between words?	ALWAYS Always leave spaces between words	USUALLY Usually leave spaces between words, but forgets once or twice and some words are hard to read.
