Summary Book Jacket Book Jacket Report Students create a book jacket about a book they have read. It will include a summary and original artwork that symbolically represents the book in some way. Summary	Excellent Summary is well written and includes all aspects of the story. The paragraph is well formed. It is clear the student read the book and understood it.	Good Summary includes all aspects of the story, but at least one sentence is not well formed. It is clear the student read the book.	Poor Includes a description of some of the events that happened in the story. It appears the student read most of the book, but might not understand it. Sentences are not well formed.	Must do Over Summary is too vague. Does not appear the student read or understood the book. Sentence structure unclear.
Theme	Excellent The theme is accurately identified and explained as it relates to the character.	Good The theme is identified.	Poor The theme is not identified correctly.	Must do Over The theme is missing.
Spelling/Grammar	Excellent There are no spelling/grammar errors on the book jacket. The author's name and the title are spelled correctly throughout!	Good There are 3 or fewer spelling/grammar errors on the book jacket.	Poor There are many spelling/grammar errors on the book jacket.	Must do Over The spelling/grammar errors on the book jacket interfere with reading.
Neatness and Effort	Excellent The book jacket has no distracting errors, corrections or erasures. Effort and care apparent.	Good The book jacket has almost no distracting errors, corrections or erasures.	Poor The book jacket is readable but the quality is not good on some parts.	Must do Over Very messy and hard to read.
