Literal Comprehension	POOR The student shows total understanding of literal meaning of a text.	FAIR The student shows understanding of literal meaning of a text most of the time.	GOOD The student shows barely any understanding of literal meaning of a text.
determine the meaning of unknown wo	POOR The student is confident and skilled in deducing the meaning of unknown vocabulary from context clues.	FAIR The student tries to figure out meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary and is accurate some of the time.	GOOD The student shows inability of deducing meaning from unknown vocabulary without the help of a dictionary.Makes barely any attempt.
Inference	POOR The student is easily able to reassemble disconnected clues and confidently connects implied information.	FAIR The student shows ability to understand inferential clues but still lacks total clarity in inference of a text.	GOOD The student finds it difficult to pick up clues to give meaning in context.
Reorganization of information	POOR The student is able to reconstruct two or more pieces of information contained in a text to build more understanding.	FAIR The student shows progress in learning to connect clues that are found directly in a text.	GOOD The student shows little or no understanding of how to identify and reorganize clues form a text.
