Content & Development	Poor - The beginning, middle and/or end are missing. -There are fewer 2 characters and/or the characters are not very vivid or distinct from one another.	Good - The beginning, middle and end are somewhat clear. -There may be 2 distinct characters but they are not very vivid.	Excellent -There is a clear beginning, middle and end. -There are at least 2 distinct characters described in detail.
Organization & Formatting	Poor - The paper is unorganized, messy, and/or difficult to follow.	Good - The paper is somewhat organized, neat, and easy to follow. -All but one of the formatting requirements were followed.	Excellent - The paper is organized, neat, and easy to follow. - Paragraphs are indented properly. - If typed it is 12pt font, in black, double-spaced. - If handwritten it is in cursive, dark blue or black ink, and double-spaced.
Punctuation & Spelling	Poor - There are many more than 5 errors in spelling and/or punctuation.	Good - There are more than 5 errors in spelling and/or punctuation.	Excellent -There are very few or no spelling and/or punctuation errors.
Sentences	Poor - The paper includes repetitive vocabulary and would really benefit from more descriptive language and a greater variety of sentences.	Good - The paper includes some varied sentences and few descriptions.	Excellent - The use of language is clear and precise, especially because sentences and descriptions are varied.
Extra Credit	Poor	Good +2 for a detailed title page.	Excellent
