ATTENDANCE	Exceptional Student is always on time and attends classes.	Proficient Student is absent one or two times.	Basic Student is absent from class three times and may be late sometimes.	Developing Student has four or more absences in the semester or have been caught skipping.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR	Exceptional Student often asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions. Does not use cell phone or other device at all when inappropriate.	Proficient Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions. May have used cell phone at least once or gotten our their device without being prompted to by teacher.	Basic Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions. May have used cell phone at least once.	Developing Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions. May have used cell phone at least once.
Level of Focus and Attention	Exceptional Level of Focus and Attention is excellent during class sessions at all times regardless of the activity.	Proficient Level of Focus and Attention is found during most class sessions regardless of the activity.	Basic Level of Focus and Attention is sometimes found during class sessions regardless of the activity.	Developing Level of Focus and Attention is rarely found during class sessions even with frequent reminders not to do so.
PREPARATION Brings all materials.	Exceptional Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials punctually. Student gets out materials before the bell rings without being prompted to.	Proficient Student is usually prepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Student may need to be prompted to get out materials.	Basic Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late.	Developing Student is almost always unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late.
