This is the rubric that will determine the grade for the concept map that my students created on Kidspiration as a part of my Sorting Webquest.

Poor

The title does not explain what the map is about.
Fair

The title explains the map, but could be stronger, more descriptive, or more clear.
Good

Has one title that correctly explains what the map is about and helps the reader know what the map is going to contain.
Subtitles

Poor

Has one subtitle that is a general way in which objects can be divided.
Fair

Has three subtitles that are general ways in which objects can be divided.
Good

Has five or more subtitles that are general ways in which objects can be divided.
Sub-subtitles

Poor

Has one sub-subtitles for each subtitle that is a more specific characteristic of the subtitle it is linked to.
Fair

Has two sub-subtitles for each subtitle that are not exactly characteristics of the subtitle they are linked to or are not more descriptive ways to sort objects.
Good

Has two or more sub-subtitles for each subtitle that are more specific characteristics of the subtitle that they are linked to. (More descriptive ways to sort objects)
Pictures/ Examples

Poor

Has one picture of an object that has the characteristic of the group it is linked to (is sorted correctly) for each sub-subtitle.
Fair

Has two pictures of objects that have the characteristics of the group they are liked to (are sorted correctly) for each sub-subtitle.
Good

Has three or more pictures of objects that have the characteristics of the group they are linked to (are sorted correctly) for each sub-subtitle.
Links

Poor

More than 5 links are missing and/ or the title, subtitles, sub-subtitles, and pictures are not linked together correctly.
Fair

Has most of the appropriate links but some may be backward or not linked together correctly, or is missing less than 5 links.
Good

Every picture is linked to one sub-subtitle, every sub-subtitle is linked to one subtitle, and every subtitle is linked to the title.
Overall Flow

Poor

The concept map is lacking structure and is hard to read.It does not flow smoothly or show your understanding of different ways to sort common objects.
Fair

The concept map has some structural difficulty, but overall the general flow can be understood.
Good

The concept map flows smoothly. It is easy to read and not crammed together. A reader can easily see the characteristics and examples by which the objects are sorted.
