Game Project- Volume
Game Project
Using cardboard boxes of a variety of sizes, design a hands-on volume calculation game for small groups of students to play. Make sure the game is fun, but also clearly teaches the concept of calculating the volume of rectangular prisms. Be sure your game incorporates the using of cubes to fill up the space in the boxes, and it also incorporates estimating volume, as well as actual volume calculation. Be prepared to have your classmates play your game.

Fair
The math concepts are not made clear enough to be learned by players at a beginning level of understanding. There are errors in the game, and most players are left confused about the concept of volume after playing the game.
Good
Most concepts can be learned by players at a beginning level of understanding. There are a few errors in the game, but they don't interfere with the content. Players will be able to understand volume through the game; however, there is still some confusion about the overall concept.
Exellent
All concepts can be learned by players at a beginning level and there are no errors in the game. Players will be able to thoroughly understand volume through playing the game.
Written Directions
Fair
Somewhat clear, but there are many errors that cause the players to have questions or have to speculate on what to do in the game.
Good
Clear rules on how to play the game, but there are some errors. There are a few holes in the directions that cause some speculation on what to do next within the game, but the players are still able to continue through the game.
Exellent
The rules are well written and clear. There are no questions on how to proceed with the game.
Quality and Neatness
Fair
The game lacks quality and neatness. It needed more time and effort in order to make it appear of high quality.
Good
Creative and well done. The game might have been ready for publishing if it just had a little bit more quality in the overall appearance.
Exellent
Take this to the publisher! The time you put in was definitely a benefit to the neatness and quality of your game!
Engagement
Fair
The game lacks the spark needed to maintain interest but had effort at engagement.
Good
The game was engaging, but the players could have been challenged more to keep them interested.
Exellent
The game was engaging and full of challenge. The players did not have time to lose interest.
Problems and Answer Key
Fair
The volume problems are so basic that they do not promote critical thinking or problem solving skills. There is either no answer key, or the key has many errors.
Good
The problems are of high quality, but there aren't enough upper level problems to challenge many students. There is an answer key with few or no errors.
Exellent
There is a wide variety of problems, and many of them promote critical thinking/problem solving skills. There are many upper-level problems that effectively challenge all students. There is a thorough answer key with no errors.
