The student spent less than half of the time reading quietly and independently. The student distracted others and/or left the designated area two or more times.

The studnet spent half of the time reading quietly and independently. The student distracted others or left his/her designated area one or two times.
Expert

The student spent the entire time reading quietly and independently. The student did not distract others. The student stayed within his/her designated area.
Book Handling

Beginner

The student choose many books at once. The student tore up the books. The student did not put the books up in the correct tub when finished reading.
Emerging

The student choose more than one book at a time. The student was rough with the books and/or put some of the books up incorrectly.
Expert

The student choose one book at a time. The student handled the books carefully. The student returned books to the appropriate tub when finished.
