Newspaper Book Report Newspaper Book Report This rubric will assess fiction book project. The students will read and choose a selected book. They are then to complete a final presentation which will include a newspaper layout and written work about the book. In addition, they will be presenting this presentation orally. Newpaper Layout	Exceeds Expectaions Student went above and beyond what was expected. Creativity and attention to detail were excellent! All fonts and styles are consistent throughout the presentation.	Satisfactory Student put a good amount of effort into the project, displaying their work in a creative way. All fonts and styles are consistent throughout the presentation.	Developing Student put some effort into the project, but could have spent more time on details and creativity. Inconsistent fonts and styles.	Beginning Student completed a book report but did not follow guidelines in a newspaper format.
Written Responses	Exceeds Expectaions The student wrote a paragraph with detail and summarized the book in clear form. They included the 5 W's in a well-developed paragraph. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are near perfect.	Satisfactory The student wrote a paragraph with little summarization details. He/she did write response sentences to the questions but needed more detail. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are near perfect.	Developing The student wrote incomplete sentences and the editing features were not observed.	Beginning Inaccurate information and incomplete sentences were provided with no editing.
Features	Exceeds Expectaions 5 Features were completed creatively and relayed undersdtanding of the important elements and details of the book. Oral Presentation	Exceeds Expectaions Student showed understanding of the book, and was a dynamic presenter, making eye-contact with his/her classmates.
