Basic Understanding	Poor Can tell limited details from the reading.	Fair Can recall the characters, setting, and problem or at least one detail from what is happening in the reading.	Good Can recall the characters, setting, and problem and at least two details from what is happening in the reading.	Excellent Can recall the characters, setting, and problem and at least three details from what is happening in the reading.
Inferences	Poor Can answer one inferring question.	Fair Can answer at least two inferring questions using limited supporting details from text evidence.	Good Can answer at least two inferring questions using supporting details from text evidence.	Excellent Can answer at least two inferring questions using accurate and superior supporting details from text evidence.
