- Content is comprehensive, accurate, and addresses the assignment.
- Ideas are presented in a clear and understandable manner.
- Major points are stated clearly and are well supported.
- Content and purpose of the writing are clear.

- Structure of the writer's paragraph is clear and easy to follow.
- Paragraph is built of good supporting sentences that speak to a clear topic sentence in each paragraph.

- Language uses jargon or conversational tone.

Good/Excellent (4-5)

- Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct.
- Language is clear and precise; sentences display consistently strong, varied structure.

- Paper lacks many elements of correct formatting.
