Strong main idea and supporting details.
Mechanics	Poor Consistent errors in capitalization, punctuation and spelling. Hard to read because of many errors.	Approaching Frequent errors in capitalization, punctuation and spelling. It is somewhat difficult to read.	Proficient Some errors in capitalization, punctuation and spelling. Needs editing but does not make it hard to read.	Exemplary A few or no errors in capitalization, punctuation and spelling. Needs little or no editing. Paragraphs are indented.
