Understanding task	Unsatisfactory Did not know any aspect of the task to do and had no idea what the task was.	Approaching Basic Knew there was a task to do but could not explain what it was.	Basic Had a fair idea of what the task was and only a general idea of how it was to be done.	Mastery There was a good understanding what the task was and how it was to be done.	Advanced The student knew exactly what the task was and how it was to be done.
Listening	Unsatisfactory Appeared to be totally absorbed in some other activity.	Approaching Basic Appeared to be focused, but was internally or frequently distracted .	Basic Shows evidence of listening but was not totally focused on the directions.	Mastery Shows good evidence of listening and appeared to be paying attention with some interaction.	Advanced Shows excellent evidence of listening and appeared to be paying attention and interacting.
