Panelists show respect for other panelists.
Poor

Panelist does not contribute actively to their team, or demonstrates a lack of cooperation or respect.
Unacceptable

Panelist is blatantly disrespectful or speaks out of turn. Behavior during event significantly detracts from the effectiveness of any presentation.

Panelist generally shows appreciation for the need to express and defend valid arguments, and seems to know how to distinguish them.
Poor

Panelist demonstrates inadequate efforts to reason carefully regarding the issues under discussion.
Unacceptable

No effort is apparent to analyze the topic, help form valid conclusions or offer valuable information.

Panelist's presentation is always easy for the audience to follow. Clear patterns of organization are referred to explicitly. Statements of position, questions and rebuttal points are mutually consistent in all cases.
Good

Organization of ideas is generally easy to follow and no major inconsistencies are apparent. Some relevant contrasts with opposing side are made. Most speaking time is effectively used. Speaker seems well prepared and persuades effectively.
Satisfactory

Organization of ideas is sometimes in doubt, but responses are generally relevant and responsive, and clarifications are attempted.
Poor

Needless and significant confusion is introduced into the discussion, but course corrections succeed in clarifying the issues.
Unacceptable

No coherent organization is apparent, and/or questions or responses are clearly irrelevant or non-responsive.
Attentive Listening

Exceptional

Panelist continuously demonstrates active listening and full comprehension of opposing ideas through accurate re-statement. Advances the ideas of other panelists. Questions, reactions to questions, rebuttals and ready reception of constructive feedback all clearly demonstrate that active listening has occurred throughout.
Good

Panelist offers some more or less accurate re-statements of opposing positions and always demonstrates attentive listening to others. Panelist respectfully absorbs all contributions and feedback from others.
Satisfactory

Some responses indicate a gap in attentive listening, but these are rectified or do not seriously interfere.
Poor

Questions, answers or responses suggest serious flaws in attentive listening.
Unacceptable

Attentive listening has obviously not occurred, in a manner seriously detrimental to team or panel discussion as a whole.
Delivery

Exceptional

All components of effective and persuasive delivery are present at all times, including projection, inflection, rate, eye contact, fluency, and body language.
Good

Effective and persuasive public speaking skills are almost always present.
Satisfactory

Public speaking skills are under-developed in noticeable ways, but strengths in other areas compensate for these weaknesses.
Poor

Panelist is over-reliant on notes or often inaudible. Makes little effort to persuade or connect with audience.
Unacceptable

No components of effective public speaking are noticeable or the discourse is plainly unintelligible.
