Number of sentences	Excellent Writes at least 3 sentences left to right with correct word order.	Good Writes at least 2 sentence left to right with mostly correct word order.	Fair Writes a sentence left to right with several errors in word order.	Needs Improvement Random order of words and letters or no response.
Capital and lowercase letters	Excellent Correct usage of capital letters.	Good Capital letters used at the beginning of some sentences, but not all.	Fair Capital letter used correctly to start writing, but not maintained in other sentences.	Needs Improvement Random use of capital and lowercase letters or no response.
Spacing	Excellent Proper spacing in between individual letters and individual words	Good Proper space in between most words.	Fair Proper space between the individual letters but not words.	Needs Improvement Overlapping of letters or no response.
Picture + Label	Excellent Picture is relevant to the topic and easily decipherable. Picture has clear labels.	Good Picture is somewhat relevant, but teacher needs clarification. Most required labeling is there.	Fair Picture is clear, but random and disconnected from topic. Picture has some labels that cannot be deciphered.	Needs Improvement Picture is random and not decipherable or no response. Picture has no understandable label.
Punctuation	Excellent Student uses appropriate punctuation mark at the end of each sentence.	Good Student misses one appropriate punctuation mark at the end of a sentence.	Fair Student has random periods/other punctuation marks in his/her writing.	Needs Improvement Student uses no punctuation.
