Excellent

Information is nearly perfect. The student has presented in a way that shows they have memorized and practiced their material. They have done the best that they can do.
Good

Information is presented in a smooth way, with little or no mistakes. The student has worked hard to do their best work.
Fair

Information is better, but not where it needs to be. The students have tried, but have certain areas they need to focus on for future speeches.
Poor

Information is bland and boring. It is not done to the students best capabilities. They have not spend very much time getting prepared.
Eye contact

Excellent

Students have nearly memorized their speech. They only look down for key words. Makes connections with audience members 80%+ of the time.
Good

Students have used eye contact 75-80% of the time. It appears they have practiced enough to be able to give speech without looking down for long periods of time.
Fair

Students use eye contact occasionally, with most of their speech being read directly from their paper.
Poor

Students have read directly, word for word, from their paper. It appears they have not practiced giving direct eye contact to their peers.
Voice

Excellent

Volume is adequate for size of room and audience. Tone varies with points in speech- adds excitement to speech. This has been practiced numerous time.
Good

Voice is loud, but not always directed toward the group. The students have done a good job of keeping voice up at a nice level.
Fair

Voice is loud enough for the front of the room to hear, but no one in the back can hear what they are saying. There is no change in tone.
Poor

Voice is directed toward their paper, and not toward the group.
Time

Excellent

Met time standards.
Good

Within 1 minute over standard.
Fair

More than 1 minute over time allotment.
