Journal Entry Rubric Journal Entry Rubric Journal entries MUST be 3-5 sentences. No more. No less. If you are absent, write the word "absent" across the page for the date you missed. You will not need to make-up that entry. If your journal is missing 2 pts. (see scoring) will be deducted for each missing day. No exceptions. You will still need to complete your journal on a sheet of paper and staple it into journal. If you lose your journal, you are responsible for replacing it. Content	Weak - Content is incomplete.	Average - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought.	Excellent - Content and purpose of the writing are clear.
Date Recording	Weak -Missing date on all pages.	Average -Date is inconsistently/ incorrectly written.	Excellent -Date is correctly written at the top right hand corner of every journal entry.
Format	Weak - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.	Average - Paragraph contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors.	Excellent - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct.
Grammar	Weak - Paragraph is inadequate/excessive in length.	Average - Paragraph is inadequate/excessive in length.	Excellent - Paragraph is 3-5 complete sentences. No more than 7. No fewer than 3.
Hand Writing	Weak -Writing is not legible. Unable to clearly read entry.	Average -Writing is legible with areas of difficulty.	Excellent -Writing is legible.
