Reading and Vocabulary	Could be better... I have not learned new ways to think about my reading and understand it. I have not learned new ways to define new words when I'm reading.	Pretty good... I have tried to learn new strategies for defining new words and for understanding readings. I have gotten a little better at these things	Excellent... I have learned new strategies to define new words and to understand my fiction readings.
Writing	Could be better... My writing is still a struggle. It hasn't gotten better in the last weeks.	Pretty good... I have tried to improve my writing. It is a little better than it was.	Excellent... I have developed my skills in prewriting, writing, and postwriting essays. I have grown stronger in my ability to write effectively.
Speaking and Listening	Could be better... I struggle with talking and listening in discussion. I haven't improved.	Pretty good... I have tried to become a better listener and speaker in group discussions. I am getting better.	Excellent... I have grown more effective as a speaker and listener in classroom discussions.
Drawing	Could be better... I did not work to improve my ability to draw a picture to represent an idea, and I did not improve.	Pretty good... I am a little more comfortable with drawing a picture to represent my idea.	Excellent... I have improved in my ability to represent an idea with a drawing.
