Essay Structure
Excellent - 4
Student has included an introduction, clear body paragraphs that reflect organizational style, and a conclusion in the essay. There is cohesion in the essay and all the points make sense.
Good - 3
Essay reflects an introduction, body paragraphs that somewhat reflect organizational style, and a conclusion. Cohesion is mostly present throughout the essay.
Fair - 2
Essay structure is difficult to understand. Little cohesion throughout the essay.
Poor - 1
There isn't any real form or format to this essay.
Mechanics
Excellent - 4
There are one or two spelling, punctuation, or grammar mistakes.
Good - 3
There are three or four spelling, punctuation, and/or grammar mistakes.
Fair - 2
There are several spelling, punctuation, and/or grammar mistakes.
Poor - 1
Spelling, punctuation, and/or grammar is poor and makes the essay difficult to understand.
