Study Skills Class Expectations

Classroom Behavior 20 % Student will be an attentive active listener with an open mind and good self-management	Poor Student has difficulty listening and has poor self- management skills in the classroom	Fair Student listens well to most of the instruction but has trouble with self- management during independent study time.	Good Student is an open minded attentive listener with good self-management skills.
Organization 20 % Student will review classes and record assignments daily. Student will prioritize work and manage time in study skills class so work is completed and due dates are met.	Poor Students does not record daily assignments and does not manage time effectively in class	Fair Student knows some but not all of the classwork that has been assigned.	Good Student keeps good records of classwork and knows due dates for assignments. Student manages time well.
Study space 20 % Student will keep study room and personal space free from interruptions and distractions and have materials ready at the beginning of class.	Poor Student causes distractions and interruptions during class which interfers with teaching and is having difficulty organizing materials.	Fair Student causes minor interruptions during class but does not interrupt the teaching.	Good Student does not interrupt or distract the classroom and has materials needed for class assignments ready.
Staying on Task 20 % Student will not procrastinate and will begin work promptly. Student will ask for teacher help when needed.	Poor Student has difficulty starting classwork and makes little effort to participate with the class during instruction.	Fair Student begins work and participates in class but wastes time getting started with tasks.	Good Student begins classwork promtly and stays on task. Student asks for assistance when needed.
Consequences 20 % Student understands his grade will be affected if class expectations are not met.	Poor Student does not care about earning a credit for this class.	Fair Student is making an effort to improve study skills and his grade in the class.	Good Student study skills are effective and productive.
