Magazine Cover Project Magazine Cover Project Create a magazine cover that looks like a real magazine. Choose the title of the publication. Then, be sure you include a title, photos, headline articles, dateline and follow a monthly theme. Be creative and make the finished product look as professional as possible. Be aware of the marketability and audience appeal of your magazine. The final document can be printed or shared via email: khouse@dunklin.k12.mo.us. Magazine Genre	Great Genre of magazine is very clear by the title, format, and other aspects of the cover design. It is appropriate for school and is realistic.	Good The magazine has a clear genre, but the cover has some room for improvement in terms of genre.	Fair The magazine may have a genre, but there are some confusing aspects about the cover that do not flow with the chosen genre.	Poor Genre of magazine is unclear.
Magazine Title	Great Choose a title that can reflect the audience you are trying to reach. It must be school appropriate.	Good Title does not reflect the targeted audience. It is still creative.	Fair Does not follow expectations. Is not creative.	Poor The title does not meet any of the criteria.
Article Headlines	Great Article headlines are interesting, bringing the audience into the cover.	Good Headlines are not interesting and do not pertain to the magazine.	Fair Lack of interesting article titles.	Poor No headlines presented.
Photos	Great Photo is in focus, appropriate, and is compelling. It brings the reader into the magazine.	Good Photo is not in focus, it lacks clarity, and/ or the subject matter is not in line with magazine. Photo does not bring reader to the cover.	Fair Photo is of poor quality and does not add to the overall quality of the magazine cover. The photo detracts from the magazine.	Poor Photo is missing.
Graphics/Color	Great Colors/graphics are used to add interest to the cover. color is used to effectively bring in reader.	Good Colors/graphics used does not bring in the viewer. The use of colors/graphics are ineffective.	Fair Color/graphics used is plain. It shows no research.	Poor Colors or graphics are not used.
Letter Font	Great Letter font shows research and decision making skills. The letter fonts are targeting the audience.	Good Letter font shows some research and decision making skill.	Fair Letter font shows little research and decision making skills.	Poor Letter font shows no research/ no writing is used.
Issue date, price and barcode	Great Issue, date, price and barcode are conveniently located on publication.	Good Issue and date are located on the front of the publication. Price and/or barcode are missing.	Fair Did not follow issue and date expectations.	Poor No issue, date, price or barcode present.
Grammar/spelling	Great 0 errors	Good 1 error	Fair 2 errors	Poor more than two errors
Overall professional appearance	Great The magazine cover has a professional appearance and follows a monthly theme that is easily grasped by the reader.	Good The magazine cover has a semi-professional appearance. It has some audience appeal.	Fair The magazine cover has an unprofessional appearance, but some interesting points.	Poor The magazine cover has an unprofessional appearance. It is clear that time was not spent on the project.
Presentation	Great Magazine cover was ready to be presented to class on time. Presentation showed care and preparation.	Good Cover was ready to present, but presentation did not seem like it was prepared any ahead of time. Did present to class.	Fair Either presentation was not given, or cover was not ready on the day of presentations.	Poor Cover was not ready on day of presetations AND no presentation was given.
