Striking an object
	Advanced 4 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Basic 2 pts	Minimal 1 pts
Torso (core)	Advanced Non-dominant side pointed towards the ball. Shoulder turn very evident.	Proficient Non-dominant side pointed towards the ball.	Basic Non-dominant side slightly turned towards the ball.	Minimal Facing the net without any turn of the body.
Footwork	Advanced Stepping towards the ball. Feet are shoulder width apart, balanced, with knees slightly bent.	Proficient Feet are shoulder width apart, balanced, with knees slightly bent.	Basic Feet almost shoulder width apart, fairly balanced with knees bent.	Minimal Feet together or too far apart, little to no balance, and no bend at the knees.
Arm Swing	Advanced Dominant arm slightly bent with a firm wrist. Arm motion follows through with shoulders, arm then crosses torso to opposite shoulder,back of hand facing the net	Proficient Good back swing with a level follow through across the body.	Basic Not enough extension in back swing, and/or follow through is a little unlevel in follow through.	Minimal Uses wrist with no back swing with an unlevel racket with no follow through.
Ball flight/bounce recognition	Advanced Recognizes ball flight from partners racquet. Moves to predetermined location where the ball will be after the bounce	Proficient Recognizes ball flight from partners racquet. moves to predetermined location without concideration of bounce.	Basic Recognizes ball flight from partners racquet. Late on movement or wrong recognition of flight/bounce	Minimal Moves after the ball has bounced on their side of the net.
Self assessment	Advanced Recognizes non successful play and attempts to correct with prior knowledge. Student can identify the problem and give correct possible solutions	Proficient Recognizes non successful play and attempts to correct without thought. Prior knowledge is limited.	Basic Recognizes non successful play. But does not know how to correct it. Prior knowledge is absent.	Minimal Does not recognize non successful play as opposed to successful play.
