Story events What, Who, When, Why, Where, How	Novice The student did not describe enough of the important events from the story to retell or summarize the story.	Basic The student told some of the story but did not include the most important events.	Proficient The student summarized the story using the most important events.
Sequence 1st, 2nd, Next, Then, Afterwards, Finally	Novice The student did not put the events into a logical order. The story did not make sense.	Basic Some of the events are in the correct order. It was a little difficult to understand the story.	Proficient The story was retold in a very sequential order. It was easy to understand the story.
