Level 2

Words are inconsistently clear and well-projected. Varied rate, volume, pitch and pause is inconsistent. Pitch and inflection sometimes match character.
Level 1

Words are often not clear. There is little to no varied rate and volume. Voice does not fit character well. Words are not pronounced correctly.
Below Level 1

Words are muffled and unclear throughout. The voice is monotone. Words are pronounced incorrectly or completely unclear lacking any diction.
Blocking

Level 4

Effective throughout. Positions always convey character. Blocking always enhances meaning. Inventive. Movement develops emotion and character. On Cue. Open to audience.
Level 3

Usually effective. Position usually conveys character. Blocking usually enhances meaning. Movement usually develops emotion and character. On Cue. Open to audience.

Is inconsistently effective. Positions inconsistently convey character. Blocking inconsistently enhances meaning. Inconsistently on cue, showing physical and emotional connection and open to audience.

Rarely effective. Positions rarely convey character. Rarely on cue. Rarely shows physical and emotional connection. Rarely open to audience.

Character is not different from self. No character driven facial expressions or physicality. Breaks character throughout.
Preparation

Level 4

All lines on note cards. No hesitations. Rehearsal shows through exceptional performance.
Level 3

All lines on note cards. No more than one or two hesitations. Well-rehearsed.
Level 2

Lines on cards, only a fewhesitations. Rehearsal evident through smooth performance.
Level 1

Lines on cards. Student uses script to get through scene. Student demonstrates some evidence of rehearsal.
Below Level 1

Lines not on cards. Script needed to get through scene. Performance not rehearsed.
