Reading Fluency Rubric
	4 pts	3 pts	2 pts	1 pts
Groupings of Words	4 Reads in large chunks, six or more words at a time.	3 Reads in smaller chunks, four to five words at a time.	2 Reads in small chunks, three or less words at a time.	1 Reads one word at a time.
Automaticity	4 Automaticity well-developed, steady with no hesitations	3 Automaticity good but needs small improvement due to a few hesitations.	2 Automaticity inconsistent, sometimes smooth and steady, sometimes faltering.	1 Automaticity lacking.
Punctuation Pauses	4 Pauses appropriately for all punctuation.	3 Pauses appropriately for most punctuation.	2 Ignores more than 50% of the punctuation.	1 Ignores most or all punctuation.
Word recognition	4 Pronounces correctly all words in the passage.	3 Mispronounces or does not recognize 4-5 sight words and decodes most words.	2 Mispronounces or does not recognize 8 to 10 sight words and is slow deciding many words.	1 Mispronounces or does not recognize 11 or more sight words and can not decode many words.
Expression	4 Reads with appropriate expression.	3 Reads mostly with expression but has some flat delivery.	2 Expression occurs infrequently, mostly a flat delivery.	1 Expression lacking.
