Students demonstrate their ability to successfully be safe while in the sewing lab.

Insufficient Evidence

Student does not demonstrate safety in the sewing lab.
Approaching

Student is able to show safety in the sewing lab with continual reminders around sharp objects (scissors, needles, pins, stitch rippers), hot objects (steamers and irons), the speed of the sewing machine.
Meeting

Student is able show safety in the sewing lab with minimal guidance in one of the following areas: sharp objects (scissors, needles, pins, stitch rippers), hot objects (steamers and irons), the speed of the sewing machine.
Exceeding

Student is able to consistently operate in the sewing lab safely. The student is proficient with the handling of any sharp objects, any hot tools and controlling the sewing machine speed.
Sewing Terminology

Students will demonstrate the ability to successfully understand sewing terminology.

Insufficient Evidence

Student does not understand sewing terminology.
Approaching

The student understands some sewing terminology, and requires assistance through the use of glossary terms or visuals and prompts from the teacher.
Meeting

The student is well versed with sewing terminology, and needs minimal assistance with understanding the lingo.
Exceeding

Student is confident with sewing terminology and never needs reminders.
Sewing Lab Cleanliness

Students will demonstrate the ability to keep their individual work space and general sewing lab neat and organized.

Insufficient Evidence

Student is not able to keep individual work space neat and organized.
Approaching

Student is able to keep their individual work space neat and organized with reminders and assistance.
Meeting

Student is able to successfully keep their individual work space neat and organized most of the time, with minimal reminders and prompts.
Exceeding

Student is able to successfully keep their individual work space and general classroom neat and organized, without any reminders or prompts.
