Eye Contact	Level 1 Student retells the story with no eye contact.	Level 2 Student occasionally uses eye contact.	Level 3 Student maintains eye contact most of the time.	Level 4 Student maintains eye contact all of the time.
Clarity and Coherence	Level 1 Student mumbles, incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for students in the back of class to hear.	Level 2 Student's voice is low. Student incorrectly pronounces terms. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation.	Level 3 Student's voice is clear. Student pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear presentation.	Level 4 Student's voice is clear. Student pronounces all of the words correctly. All audience members can hear presentation.
Illustration	Level 1 Student did not illustrate a scene from the passage.	Level 2 Student illustrated a scene, but without much effort.	Level 3 Student illustrated a scene from the passage with some effort.	Level 4 Student artfully illustrated a scene from the passage.
