Philosophy of Education

 My Philosophy of Education

I believe all students are capable of learning and a good teacher can reach out to every student.  Each student should not be thought of as an individual that can contribute gaining knowledge and the classroom.  I think an effective teacher will relates her lectures to real life scenarios making them more meaningful to students.  I believe teachers can not educate students alone and that parent, guardians and communities need to work together to be able to make a difference in the lives of their children, who will become our future teachers, doctors and congressmen.

One of the psychologists that provide me with inspiration for my philosophy of education is Jean Piaget a constructivist that agrees that active learners and social interaction are important. He believes that learning should be guided rather than presented by teachers, and that a great deal of language and discussion should be used in the learning process. I also feel strongly against bulling in my classroom. I want students to value differences in classmates and more comfortable sharing with others, without the fear of bulling or criticism.

I like to use various methods and approaches to facilitate each student so that I may reach the visual learners, auditory learners and kinesthetic learners. As a teacher I plan on reflecting on what I teach, always changing and evolving to better myself and my students. I will also keep up to date with technology like computers which can be a great tool in the classroom. I don’t believe in just using reward but sometimes rewards should be used as part a lecture. I believe that my philosophy of education promotes me as a more then capable teacher who is ever changing to better education students.
