VA.6.1.1

Demonstrate the use of components of a linear perspective drawing (Vanishing point, Horizon Line, Receding Lines, Proportion).

4 100-90%

Student has successfully illustrated the use of all components of Linear Perspective. The V.P. is located on the horizon line, receding lines go to the V.P. and all objects are unified by the use of correct proportion.
3 89-80%

Student has demonstrated that they understand the basic idea of Linear perspective by using almost all of the components correctly. V.P is still on the Horizon line, but proportion may be slightly off, and most of their receding lines go to the V.P.
2 79-70%

Student has demonstrated that objects appear to diminish as they recede into space but has not used the linear perspective system to achieve this look. Receding lines do not extend to the V.P. and proportions are not consistent.
1 69-60%

Student has drawn something that looks flat. Objects do not recede into space. Vanishing point is not utilized and the proportion will be off because of the lack of use of the linear perspective concept.
0 59-0%

Project is incomplete and/or none of the components of linear perspective are present.
VA.6.1.2

Illustrate Atmospheric Perspective

4 100-90%

Student has successfully used value and/or color to illustrate how the atmosphere interferes with the light reflected back to us off of distant objects. Objects will become lighter as the get further from the viewer.
3 89-80%

Student has used value and/or color to illustrate how the atmosphere interferes with the light reflected back to us off of distant objects. However, the color and/or value will not be 100% accurate. May have one object too dark or light in the progression back into space.
2 79-70%

Student has used Value and/or color to show a difference in the objects that recede into space, but does not have a clear understanding of how the value or color should change. Most colors and/or values will be out of place
1 69-60%

Student has not used Value or Color to show any change in the colors and values of objects as they recede into space.
0 59-0%

Project is incomplete and/or has no depth due to lack of value differentiation.
VA.6.1.3

Render 3-D forms by utilizing value

4 100-90%

Student has successfully and accurately rendered 3-D forms by using value to demonstrate how light is reflected off of different facets of the object. It convincingly looks like the object they were drawing.
3 89-80%

Student has shown understanding of how to render 3-D forms using value. Most of the object looks correctly drawn and shaded, but is not 100% convincing in appearance.
2 79-70%

Student has shown that the 3-d form has different values but they were unable to accurately depict those values, or they were not in the correct locations to make it look convincing.
1 69-60%

Student is unable to render 3-D forms due to insufficient skills in changing the value of the marks they leave on the paper. The object looks flat without any significant change in value.
0 59-0%

Project is incomplete and/or objects have no change in value at all.
VA.6.1.4

Apply Various Shading techniques such as Hatching, Cross Hatching, Stipple and Graduated Shading

4 100-90%

Student has successfully demonstrated all four shading techniques.
3 89-80%

Student has successfully demonstrated three of the four techniques.
2 79-70%

Student has successfully demonstrated two of the four techniques.
1 69-60%

Student has successfully demonstrated one of the four techniques.
0 59-0%

Student has successfully demonstrated none of the four techniques.
VA.6.1.5

analyze art from the Renaissance for perspective use.

4 100-90%

Student has correctly identified the Linear perspective components used in the Renaissance example they labelled.
V.P., Horizon Line, Receding Lines.
3 89-80%

Student has gotten one of the 3 components incorrect.
2 79-70%

Student has gotten two of the 3 components incorrect.
1 69-60%

Student has failed to identify any of the components.
0 59-0%
