Good My essay addresses the writing prompt. Meets target length requirements. All required elements present.	Average My essay generally addresses the writing prompt but my be off topic in places. One or more required elements missing. Falls short or exceeds target length.	Poor Off topic and/or incomplete/no attention to length requirement.
Organization 5 pts	Excellent I have a title, an opening and closing.<BR> There is a logical progression of ideas that are well organized and clearly connected.	Good I organize my presentation in a logical manner. I have a title and an opening and/or closing.<BR> Organization is evident and the ideas generally connected.	Average I organize my presentation in a logical manner. I may have an opening and closing, but it may need more work.<BR> Organization is evident and the ideas generally connected.	Poor I focus mostly on the completion of the task; I do not pay much attention to organization and flow of my story.
Comprehensibility 5 pts	Excellent Reader can always understand what I am trying to communicate. No interference from English.	Good Reader can understand most of what I am trying communicate. <BR> Possibly some interference from English.	Average Reader has difficulty understanding what I am trying to communicate.	Poor Incomprehensible throughout making story difficult to understand by anyone who reads it.
Use of reference to magical realism 5 pts	Excellent I clearly demonstrate my ability to correctly use (and form) the preterite and imperfect tenses. I am able to use a wide range of verbs. Some of my sentences show that I can use two or more past tense verbs in the same sentence.	Good I can generally use (and form) the preterite and imperfect tense correctly. I make between 1-3 mistakes with choice of tense and/or spelling/accents.	Average I know that there are differences between the preterite and the imperfect tenses but I have a hard time using them appropriately to tell my story. I make between 4-6 mistakes with choice of tense and/or spelling/accents	Poor I show very little understanding of how the preterite and imperfect are used to narrate a story. I have over 6 errors in form and usage.
