5-Exceeds Standard
Student located all the bold words and identified other words that were unknown or important to the understanding of the text.
Margin Notes

No evidence of margin notes.
2-Does Not Meet Standard
Student attempted to make a margin note, but under minimum or does not make sense.
3-Developing - Nearly Meets
Student made margin notes but below minimum requirement.
4-Meets Standard
Student made the required number of margin notes and attempted a thoughtful interaction with the text.
5-Exceeds Standard
Student made more than the required number of margin notes or was able to show higher level thinking by the margin notes provided.
Clarity and Organization
1-No Evidence
No evidence of organizational techniques.
2-Does Not Meet Standard
Student attempts to use some organizational techniques but is unclear or inconsistent.
3-Developing - Nearly Meets
Student uses some clear organizational techniques but below the required number.
4-Meets Standard
Student uses the required number of organizational techniques with clarity.
5-Exceeds Standard
Student is exceptionally clear and uses several organizational techniques.
