Elements & Principles of Design - Automobile Design Elements & Principles of Design - Automobile Design Students are to bring in an inspiration picture of an insect that will inspire them as they design an original automobile design. Students understand that objects from nature can be an inspiration for artists and designers. Automobile Design	Still Learning Little relation to the insect.	Working Hard to Understand Some detail on car but does not relate to the insect.	Good Effort The car relates somewhat to the insect. The outfit has 1 or 2 good details.	Excellent Effort The relationship between the inspiration (insect) and the design is very clear. The car is detailed and well designed.
Element of Color	Still Learning Student did not finish adding Color to their car project.	Working Hard to Understand Student used colors in their work that may not have matched the Colors of their insect.	Good Effort Student made a good effort to match the Colors from their insect and apply it to their design.	Excellent Effort Student matched the Colors perfectly from their insect and applied it to their design.
Element of Line	Still Learning Student did not finish applying Lines to their car project.	Working Hard to Understand Student used Lines in their design but they may not have matched those of their insect.	Good Effort Student made a good effort to use some of the Lines from their insect and apply it to their design.	Excellent Effort Student used all of the Lines from their insect image and applied it to their design.
Element of Shape	Still Learning Student did not finish applying Shape to their car project.	Working Hard to Understand Student used Shapes in their design but they may not have matched those of their insect	Good Effort Student made a good effort to use some of the Shapes from their insect and apply it to their design. Element of Texture	Still Learning Student did not finish applying Texture to their car project.	Working Hard to Understand Student used Textures in their design but they may not have matched those of their insect	Good Effort Student made a good effort to use some of the Textures from their insect and apply it to their design.	Excellent Effort Student used all of the Textures possible from their insect image and applied it to their design.
Principle of Balance	Still Learning Student did not finish the design enough to demonstrate a clear understanding of principle of Balance.	Working Hard to Understand Student may not have completely understood the principle of Balance but completed the design.	Good Effort Student understands the principle of Balance but could have pushed the use of that principle a bit further in their design.	Excellent Effort Student understands the use of Balance in design and clearly used asymmetrical, symmetrical, or radial balance in their work.
Principle of Emphasis	Still Learning Student did not finish the design enough to demonstrate a clear understanding of principle of Emphasis.	Working Hard to Understand The student's design does not demonstrate the principle of Emphasis but the project is complete.	Good Effort The student's design somewhat demonstrates the principle of Emphasis.	Excellent Effort The student's design clearly demonstrates the principle of Emphasis.
Principle of Unity	Still Learning Student did not finish the design enough to demonstrate a clear understanding of principle of Unity.	Working Hard to Understand The student's design does not show complete Unity but the project is complete.	Good Effort The student's design shows some understanding of the principle of Unity.	Excellent Effort The student's design clearly demonstrates the principle of Unity. Every aspect of the fashion design flows and appears to go together.
Drew Insect to Display with Fashion	Still Learning Student did not draw insect.	Working Hard to Understand Student attempted to draw insect but did not display it with fashion design.	Good Effort Student drew basic insect to display with fashion.	Excellent Effort Student drew insect in a true likeness to the one they used for inspiration. This insect was displayed with fasion design.
