Band Performance
	Developing 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good (Effective) 3 pts	Excellent (Highly Effective) 4 pts
Posture	Developing Does not attempt, nor make efforts to improve proper posture.	Fair Sits or stands with with head down, shoulders down and forward, arms resting on body, feet crossed, fully extended or not touching the floor, and back bent.	Good Usually sits or stands with the head up, shoulders straight, arms at the correct angle, feet on the floor, and back straight land not leaning on the chair, if sitting.	Excellent Always Usually sits or stands with the head up, shoulders straight, arms at the correct angle, feet on the floor, and back straight land not leaning on the chair, if sitting.
Tone Quality	Developing Sound is totally lacking in quality due to a poorly formed or weak embouchure/grip (focrum) and/or no breath support.	Fair Limited projection - tone is poor or range is limited due to the need for a stronger embouchure or better focrum/breath support.	Good Considerable use of projection and fullness of tone but still somewhat short of a mature sound.	Excellent Tone is full and well projected. A truly characteristic sound for the instrument.
Technique	Developing Instrument is not held in the proper playing position. Right and/or left hand position is incorrect.	Fair Some effort is being made to hold the instrument correctly but performance is hindered by poor hand and finger placement.	Good Playing position is good but there are minor errors in hand or finger position.	Excellent Playing position is correct and hand & finger position are correct to allow for good technical facility.
Pitch	Developing No recognizable tune is present.	Fair Many notes are incorrect - student seems unfamiliar with the tune. (6 or more mistakes)	Good Mostly correct with a few errors in pitch or rhythm. (2-3 mistakes)	Excellent Pitches are correct and has a quality sound for that instrument. (1 mistake or less)
Rhythm & Pulse	Developing No evidence of steady pulse	Fair Pulse is unstable with major rhythmic errors.	Good Steady pulse with few rhythmic errors.	Excellent Steady pulse with accurate rhythms.
