Events on Life Map	Poor Student provides 7 points on life map. There is no change in life line showing how happy Huck was at the time. Events picked have little to no effect on the plot development.	Fair Student provides 8 examples on life map. There are few changes in life line showing how happy Huck was at the time. Events picked have some significance within the novel.	Good Student provides 10 examples on life map. Changes in life line accurately reflect Huck's happiness within the novel. Events picked have a major impact on the novel and Huck's development as a character.
Presentation	Poor Student reads directly off of life line map without any additional explanation.	Fair Student offer some additional explanation as to why they picked the events on their life map. Briefly talk about when Huck really starts to become a civilized person. Student briefly connect Huck's character growth to his time on the river.	Good Student provides evidence from the book as to why the events listed on their life map are important. They also talk in depth about which event first shows Huck's development into a civilized person. Students also connect Huck's life map to symbolism of the river.
Participation	Poor Student does not work and does not speak in group presentation.	Fair Student offers little to group conversation and talks minimally during the presentation.	Good Student is actively involved in making the life map and offering opinions about which events belong on the map. During the presentation student explains at least one point on life map and refers back to the text.
