CONVENTIONS RUBRIC
	EXCELLENT Great Job! This is my best work! 4 pts	NICE WORK! Good work. I only have a few things to fix to be perfect. 3 pts	SATISFACTORY I can turn this in but it is not my best work 2 pts	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT It would be a good idea to do this again. 1 pts
CAPITALIZATION	EXCELLENT Every sentence starts with a capital letter. Every name (if any) starts with a capital letter. There are no EXTRA capital letters!	NICE WORK! Most sentences start with capital letters. Names (if any) start with a capital letter. There are a few EXTRA capital letters.	SATISFACTORY Some sentences start with capital letters. Names (if any) do not start with capital letters. There are some EXTRA capital letters.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT Sentences do not start with capital letters. Names (if any) do not start with capital letters. There are alot of EXTRA capital letters.

Handwriting	EXCELLENT NEAT! I can read every word easily. My letters are the same size. I put a SPACE between each word. I stayed on the lines. I wrote to the margins.	NICE WORK! THIS LOOKS PRETTY GOOD. I can read almost every word. Most of the letters are the same size. I put a SPACE between each word. I stayed on the lines. I wrote to the left margin.	SATISFACTORY I CAN READ THIS BUT IT LOOKS MESSY. Has somewhat legible printing, spacing, and pays attention to the margins sometimes.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT THIS IS HARD TO READ! Does not use legible printing, spacing, or attention to margins.
Sentences	EXCELLENT Every sentence is finished. I have only 1 or 2 missing words. I used 2 or more vocabulary words in my sentences.	NICE WORK! Every sentence is finished. Complete Paragraph	EXCELLENT My paragraph is indented. I have a complete paragraph with a topic sentence, 3-5 detail sentences and a concluding sentence.	NICE WORK! I have a topic sentence and most of my detail sentences support the topic.	SATISFACTORY I have a topic sentence or a few detail sentences.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT I have 1-4 simple sentences
