1. Length	Excellent The speech is 8-10 minutes in length.	Average The speech is 6-7 minutes.	Poor The speech is less than 6 minutes in length.
2. Development	Excellent The speech covers the 8 required components in an organized fashion. The student is able to articulately answer all questions posed by the review panel.	Average The speech covers 6-7 required components or occassionally lacks organization. The student offers accpetable answers for most questions from the review panel.	Poor The speech covers less than 6 required components or frequently lacks organization. The student has difficulty answering some of the questions from the review panel.
3. Preparation	Excellent The student has a bulleted PowerPoint presentation or note cards, but does not read off of them. The speech has been thoroughly praticed and parts memorized.	Average The student has a bulleted PowerPoint presentation or note cards, but reads off of them occassionally.<BR> The speech has been adequatley practiced.	Poor The student has a bulleted PowerPoint presentation or note cards, but reads off of them frequently; or the student has a PowerPoint presentation or note cards with large masses of text. Little practice is evident.
4. Manner of Speaking	Excellent The speaker excels at proper posture and gestures, appropriate rate/voulme of speaking, eye contact, poise, and professionalism.	Average The speaker has adequate posture and gestures, rate/voulme of speaking, eye contact, poise, and professionalism.	Poor The speaker needs improvement in proper posture and gestures, appropriate rate/voulme of speaking, eye contact, poise, and professionalism.
5. Visual Aid	Excellent The visual aid excels at content, aesthtics, and effective use.	Average The visual aid is adequate for content, aesthtics, and effective use.	Poor The visual aid is lacking in content, aesthtics, and effective use.
