Hands-on Photomanipulation/Design Assessment 
Using Photoshop to recreate a composition from a folder of instructor provided images, students apply knowledge of selections, masking, image adjustments, layer blending modes, layer effects, adjustment layers and associated techniques. The goal is to recreate the example design and improve upon it using the knowledge of graphic design gained during the semester.

Followed instructions in
the hands-on pdf file and utilized the techniques mentioned. Resulting composite image appears natural; all type is readable and message/theme is immediately apparent.

Good Understanding of software & tools required for assignment. Some proficiency in the process, but composition & type may be somewhat hard to read.

Elements and/or image treatments used in the Project were very acceptable. One or two of the graphic elements and/or images used in the Project reflect student creativity in their assignment. It is obvious that care was taken in the layout of the type and images.

Elements and/or image treatments used in the Project were acceptable, but the skills demonstrated were very rudimentary. Some care was taken in the arrangement of the elements.

The student did not really make or customize any of the items in the Project. Elements were inadequate or unstructured.

Student has made some effort in applying the techniques as shown and/or is showing some improvement in the design area as compared to previous assignments.
Average (C)

Student has used one or two of the techniques shown, but displays only minimal design improvement over previous assignments. Multiple techniques were missing from the work.
Below Average (D)

Student used one or fewer techniques as shown; work displays no measurable design improvement.
Unsatisfactory (F)

No signs of Improvement or not applying learned skills
