Soccer Skills Assessment
Students will be assessed on their overall ability and attitude toward the game of soccer. Students will be assessed on their perfomance and sportsmanship.

Kicking from a stationary posistion
Minimal
Student's foot goes only 2-5 degrees behind them and misses the ball.
Partial
Student's foot goes between 6-10 degrees behind them. There is slight arm swing and little foot plant.
Acceptable
Student's leg is bent at the knee and arm swing helps with the distance of the kick. There is visable foot plant and little follow through with the leg.
Thorough/Advanced
Student's leg is bent at the knee before kick. Arm action is contralateral and helps with the force of the kick. There is visable foot plant and follow through with the leg.
Dribbling the ball
Minimal
Student uses toes to kick the ball in front of them and does not go in a straight line. The student is constantly chasing after the ball.
Partial
Student uses only one foot to kick the ball forward and chases after the ball. Student sometimes runs over the ball.
Acceptable
Student kicks the ball within 1 yard ahead of them with each pass. They use both feet and only the inside or outside of their foot. The student goes in straight line to the finish point a a fairly fast pace.
Thorough/Advanced
Student kicks the ball within 1 yard ahead of them with each pass. They use both feet and uses both the inside and outside of their feet. The student goes in a straight line to the finish point in a very fast pace.
Passing the ball to a Partner
Minimal
Student passes the ball with their toes and "pushes" the ball rather than kicks the ball. The ball goes nowhere near the target. The ball bounces for most of the pass.
Partial
Student passes the ball with their toes and "pushes" the ball rather than kicks the ball. The ball goes toward the target but is off by a few feet. The ball bounces for most of the pass.
Acceptable
Student passes the ball within a foot to their partner. Student sometimes uses the inside of their foot. Ball bounces on the ground through some of the pass.
Thorough/Advanced
Student passes the ball right on target (making it so that the partner does not have to move). Student uses the inside of their foot. Ball does not leave the ground.
Student has a positive attitude
Minimal
Student yells at other students and tells them they are no good. Student kicks the ball at others and has a negative attitude toward others and themselves.
Partial
Student disrespects other students and is down on themselves, however, they do participate.
Acceptable
Student encourages others, however, is a little negative toward themselves. They listen to others when they are talking.
Thorough/Advanced
Student encourages others and themselves. They make sure to listen to the teacher and others in a respectable mannor.
Sportsmanship
student works as a team member
Minimal
student does not work well in team atmosphere. Student has little disregard for other students capabilities.
Partial
Student tends to keep the ball or rarely pass; as they have little trust in team mates. However, Student is active.
Acceptable
Student is encouraging torwards teammates and relies on teammates to advance the ball.
Thorough/Advanced
Student is encouraging to all, may give positive suggestions as to better placement in working torwards goals as team.
trapping
Minimal
student rarely controls the ball ( i.e. chases after it) therefore trapping is rarely if ever seen.
Partial
student displays control, and trapping is sometimes seen (drills sepecific to trapping)
Acceptable
student maintains control over ball, consistently uses trapping as a way to slow down and/or control ball and momentum.
Thorough/Advanced
student displays great control over ball, student uses trapping as a means to control the ball and change direction to further advance themself up the field (or playing area)
