Business Letter
	Excellent 100 pts	Great 90 pts	Good 80 pts	Poor 70 pts
Correct Format	Excellent Letter will have both a heading in the top right corner, a greeting with a colon, indentations in correct spot, single spaced and a sign off with space for signature and (SASE) underneath	Great Letter will have an address and a date as well as a greeting with colon, a sign off, but incorrect spacing and indentions	Good Letter will have a greeting and closing using some sort of punctuation. It is not formatted as a business letter but rather as a friendly letter	Poor Letter is not close to the correct format
Professional Language	Excellent Professional letter using complete words, sentences, proper punctuation and spelling. Written in a formal yet friendly business letter style.	Great Letter is professional but the sentences are not written in complete sentences or are written as run ons.	Good Letter will Be professional. Use of abbreviations instead of writing out complete words or sentences. Incomplete sentences or run on sentences used, frequent misspelled words.	Poor Letter will be written informally as if writing to a friend. Or unprofessional use of language or slang. Cussing or inappropriate words or comments.
Process	Excellent Student worked on the process of a query letter and understood the importance of the query letter. Student sent letter off for a publishing submission.	Great Student worked on the process of a query letter and understood the importance of the query letter. Student did not send letter off for a publishing submission.	Good Student slowly worked on the process of a query letter and got some of the basic understancing. Student sent letter off for a publishing submission.
