Performance of a Scene The purpose of this rubric is to asses the student's ablity to develop a performance.
	Not Meeting 1 pts	Working Towards 2 pts	Meeting 3 pts
The Script Reading, analysis and interpretation of script	Not Meeting Student has not read and understood the script. No givens are listed and the character objective is unclear.	Working Towards Student has read the play. Some givens are listed. Objectives are stated but not in the proper terms. Some givens are listed.	Meeting Student has researched any material not known in the play. Givens and objectives are addressed and clearly stated.
Memorization Scene is memeorized in time for character development to take place.	Not Meeting Scene is never memorized. Student carries script on stage for final performance.	Working Towards Scene is memorized just before performance. Most of rehearsal time is spent with script in hand.	Meeting Scene is memorized early and the majority of the rehearsal time is spent off book.
Performance The scene is developed to a performance level with changes made which attempt to solve the identified acting problem.	Not Meeting Minmal character development is evident. Little stage business is evident.	Working Towards Actor frequently moves and speaks with a clear purpose. The character is evident more often than the actor. Stage buisness is developed beyond what is given in the script.	Meeting The actor's voice and body are integrated to protray a clear character which is sustained throughout the scene. Stage buisness is natural and appears unplanned. Subtext is understood and developed.
