The work shows that the student applied the elements/principles that were discussed in class in a complex manner.
The student thoroughly and with great detail explains how they used the art elements/principles in their work.
Creativity/Originality

Level 1

The piece shows little or no evidence of original thought. There are no preliminary thumnails or sketches.
Level 2

The piece shows little evidence of original thought. There are mimimal attempts at preliminary thumnails or sketches.

The student's work lacked sincere originality.
There are attempts at thumbnails or sketches but they do not show adequate problem-solving efforts.

The student's work demonstrates originality. The student has created several sketches or thumbnails in an effort to work though problem-solving.

The student's work demonstrates originality and shows evidence of planning and problem-solving through complex sketches or thumbnails that show the process of thought.

The student did not finish work.
Level 2

The student did not finish work in satisfactory manner.
Level 3

The student finished the project but it lacked finished touches. The project could be improved upon with little effort.
Level 4

The student completed the project in an above average manner, yet more could have been done.
Level 5

The student gave an effort far beyond the requirements of the project.
Skill

Level 1

The student disregarded craftsmanship and did not put forth effort for understanding.
They did not ask for help or responded negatively to help to improve their craftsmanship or understanding.
Level 2

The student showed poor craftsmanship or lacked understanding. They did not ask for help or responded negatively at times to help to improve their craftsmanship or understanding.
Level 3

The student showed average craftsmanship and understanding.
They asked minimal questions and made minimal effort to respond to help from the teacher to improve their craftsmanship and understanding.
Level 4

The student showed average craftsmanship and understanding. The student worked hard to ask questions and respond to help from the teacher to improve their craftsmanship and understanding.
Level 5

The work shows outstanding craftsmanship and was finished with a great deal of care throughout the artistic process. They asked questions and responded to help from the teacher appropriately.

The student showed positive response most of the time during the development of the piece.

The student showed positive response all of the time during the development of the piece.
Level 5

The student showed positive response all of the time during the development of the piece and was appropriately helpful to others and/or the teacher during the process.
Cooperation

Level 1

The student does not show willingness to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; does not work well with others. Student is often not in seat when the bell rings and/or rushes to finish and stop working early.
Level 2

The student is rarely willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; sometimes works well with others. Student is sometimes not in seat when bell rings. Student uses minimum amount of studio time.
Level 3

The student is sometimes willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; works somewhat well with others. Student is in seat when bell rings and uses studio time appropriately with appropriate clean-up time.
Level 4

The student is usually willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; works well with others. Student is in their seat when the bell rings and utilizes the studio time and clean-up.
