Cradling

Poor

*Player does not continually move/rotate lacrosse stick when ball is in the pocket
*Player moves only the top hand when cradling
*Hands are not correctly positioned on the stick
Fair

*Player continually moves/rotates stick when ball is in the pocket
*Player moves both hands when cradling but not in unison
*Correct hand positioning(top hand on neck of shaft, bottom hand on bottom of stick)

*Constant movement/rotation of the stick when ball is in the pocket
*Across the body movement(both hands move in unison)
*Correct hand positioning(top hand on neck of shaft, bottom hand on bottom third of stick)
Passing

Poor

*Hand positioning is not correct(player does not slide bottom hand downward)
*Player can make less than 3 consecutive passes
*Player is unable to switch to dominate hand and complete a pass

*Correct hand positioning(sliding downward of top hand)
*Player can make 3-4 consecutive passes
*Switch to non-dominate hand and complete 1-3 passes

Catching

*Player does not give target when catching.
*Player does not call for ball.
*Player meets ball out and bats at it.
*Player does not protect ball after catch.
*Player must stop running to catch.
Fair

*Player calls for ball.
*Protects ball after catch.
*Rarely bats ball out of the air.
*Can run and catch the ball 50% of the time.
Good

*Player gives a target when calling for ball.
*Gives with the ball and brings to the body.
*Protects ball after catch.
*Can run and catch 85% of the time.
Shooting

Poor

*Player does not pull down with bottom hand.
*Pushes ball out of stick.
*Top hand is too close to stick's head.
*Players shot does not have significan amount of speed to be classified a shot.
Fair

*Player protects stick before shot.
* Player does not push ball when shooting but pulls down with bottom hand.
*Canshoot and run 75% of the time.
Good

*Stick is held in triple threat position protecting stick.
*Player steps with opposite foot and rotates hips for extra force.
*Ball is shot where stick is pointing and player follows through.
*Player can shoot and run at same time
Scooping

Poor

*Player does not call for ball.
*Player must stop to scoop.
*If unsuccessful at scooping rakes ball.
*When successful at scooping cannot control the ball.
Fair

*Player calls for ball.
*Player gets low but leaves butt end of stick high in air.
*Can scoop ball at a moderate speed.
*Looks up field after scooping.
Good

*Player calls for ball.
*Player drops low to ball.
*Can run at full speed to scoop ball.
*After scooping ball player protects stick.
*Player scoops ball and looks up field.
