Experiment
Poor
Students did not complete an experiment.
Fair
Students partially completed an experiment. The experiment either had little to do with their topic or was not executed properly. The experiment may have been too time consuming, or had very little to it.
Good
Students fully completed the experiment. There were minor problems during the biome in getting it to work as planned, but otherwise, everything went fine.
Excellent
Students fully completed the science experiment during biome. Their experiment was well executed, on topic, and each group member was able to explain how it worked and why it was important.
Art
Poor
Students did not complete the art portion of this assignment.
Fair
Students made an attempt at completing the art portion of this assignment. The art was either not finished, looked rushed, or was of low quality. Art had little to do with the topic of research or was unrelated in any way.
Good
Students completed the art portion of this assignment. The artwork was generally good with some minor errors. Experiment may have been hard to see due to placement, and the "booth" may have been missing elements, or had art work unrelated to their topic.
Excellent
The students completed the art portion of this assignment. The artwork was of high quality and was accurate. Their set up, or "booth", was attractive and well laid out. Their experiment was easy to see for all students that were watching.
Presentation
Poor
Students did not present their findings on biome day.
Fair
Students attempted to present their findings on biome day. They were either missing a portion of the experiment, were unable to explain what they were doing, or were unable to answer questions about the presentation.
Good
Students presented their findings on biome day. Their experiment was thoughtful, addressed the topic, and was fun to watch/engage in. There may have been one group member that was unable to participate or one of the trials may have been botched.
Excellent
Students presented during biome day and were able to successfully complete their experiment each and every time. The experiment was thoughtful, well executed and drove home a point. The students were able to accurately field all questions asked of them and were also able to explain how their experiment related to the ocean biome.
Participation
Poor
Students did not participate in this project. Project was in an unfinished state on biome day.
Fair
Students partially participated in this project. Two or more students did not help out, or one student took control of the project. Students were not able to problem solve, incorporate everyone's ideas and/or arguing took place.
Good
At least three of the students participated in the project and showed interest. The experiment was completed and all the major themes were finished. One student may have opted out of the project or minor arguing may have taken place during the lead up to biome day.
Excellent
All of the students fully participated to the best of their abilities during this project. Everyone cooperated and contributed to the final product. There wasn't any arguing and the group was able to fully finish the project on time.
