The reader can recall some major points in the text and make predictions. The reader can distinguish the main idea and give some supporting details from a variety of genres of text.
Advanced

The reader can recall major points in the text and make and revise predictions about what is read. The reader can distinguish the main idea and supporting details from a variety of genres of text.
Accuracy

Standard 1: Reading: Word Recognition

Beginning

Word recogntion accuracy is poor, generally below 85%. Reader clearly struggles in decoding words. Makes multiple decoding attempts for many words, usally without success.
Progressing

Word recognition accuracy is marginal: 86-90%. Reader struggles with many words. Many unsuccessful attempts at self correction.
Proficient

Word recognition is good: 91 - 95%. Reader self-corrects successfully.
Advanced

Word recognition accuracy is excellent: 96 - 100%. Self corrections are few but successful, as nearly all words are read correctly on initial attempt.
