Values of paint (highlights and shadows)

Average

Some parts of the portrait only contain one value of paint (Example: one color for hair, or face, etc.) There are other visible parts that show more values and depth.
Excellent

Portrait includes many highlights, shadows, and values, throughout the facial features and remainder of the portrait. The painting shows great depth with all the different values.
Craftsmanship

Fair

Average

Parts of the grid show through the paint. Some of the canvas paper is visible where some spots of paint weren't even or covered enough.
Excellent

The canvas paper was evenly painted, and fully painted background is established. There are no smudges or paint marks that look like mistakes. Painting was signed in the front and turned in.
Time

Average

Class time was not always used wisely, but the student did the required amount of work for the finished painting.
