Logo & Menu - Graphic Design Graphic Design Create a logo and a menu for a restaurant. You can select the type of restaurant. The logo will be created in Illustrator and the menu will be created in Indesign. Logo/Tagline	Excellent Logo is easy to identify and the colors of the logo are used in the menu design to help unify the menu. A unique way to use the elements of the logo were used in creating the menu. The logo and tagline don't overtake the space on the menu.	Average The logo is easy to identify but it is too large on the menu or could be placed in a different location. It is neat, but the elements in the logo are not really used to make the menu unified or creative. The tagline is missing.	Needs Improvement The logo is missing. The logo is too large. There is no tagline. Most of the principles of design and elements were not used to work with the logo in your menu.
Typography	Excellent The font families selected show only 2 styles, a san serif and serif are used. Easy to read They fit the theme of your restaurant Opposite font families are used Good contrast in color Scaled to show a hierarchy Creatively used font styles or shapes to help make the font stand out.	Average The fonts selected are easy to read. They support the theme. They do not have enough contrast in the style or color. Lack creativity, it feels more like reading a book or an ordinary list of items.	Needs Improvement The fonts do not show enough contrast, or they do not support the theme. Did not use most of the elements of design to help tie in the theme of the restaurant.
Hierarchy	Excellent The design project shows the correct order of hierarchy in the information. It is easy to see which information is the most important by the selection of font style, size, color, points of emphasis, use of shape, and line.	Average The design projects shows a neat design but little use of selection of font style, size, color, points of emphasis, use of shape, and line.	Needs Improvement The correct hierarchy has not been used used or you can not tell if there is any hierarchy because everything looks the same.
Color/Shapes/Lines	Excellent These elements were used to help show the principles of design. They help show balance, alignment, scale, give direction, and a creative touch They help guide the eye through the page	Average Some of the elements were used to show the principles of design. I can see some direction from your shapes and lines.	Needs Improvement None of the principles of design were used to create your menu. Very little effort is shown in helping the guide the customer through your menu.
Spacing	Excellent Used the grid to create the menu Shows precision in lining up the elements and typography Good use of space, like things are spaced together Good proportion of white space so the eye can rest, but is also led through the page.	Average Used the grid to create the menu Most of the elements and typography line up Some elements need more space around them or an equal amount Too much of the space is covered up and the eye has no room to rest. Images	Excellent The images are proportionate and edited for the best quality. They have good clear resolution. They enhance the layout. They are placed properly on a page with enough white space around them when necessary. They make people want to order your food or feel good about being in your restaurant.	Average Some images needed more editing. They are too pixelated or they needed to have more contrast. They are too tightly placed to the text. Spacing could be better. There could be more graphics to make a customer want to order off your menu.	Needs Improvement Did not edit or place them properly on the page. Missing images. Did not put effort in making people want to order from your menu.
Use of Class Time	Excellent Used class time well to... Experimented with many different elements and fonts. Researched for ideas on how to apply elements and principles of design into the menu in a creative and organized way Focused on the task at hand without distracting others	Average Could have used time more wisely to research for ideas Could have experimented more with he time allowed. Focused mostly on the task without distraction others. Had time leftover, but did not try to create something better	Needs Improvement Time was not used wisely. Did not experiment with different elements or very little. Could not stay focused and/or distracted others.
