Rubric for Theme-Related Writing Activities Rubric for Theme-Related Writing Activities Opening activity writing responses to various themes presented . A new theme will be introduced each day. Students choose from variety of response formats. Grading is based on thoroughness, neatness, thoughtfulness, analysis, and mechanics. THOUGHTFULNESS	Excellent - Makes total sense, expresses thoughts clearly, and has writers voice	Good - Makes sense, expresses thoughts somwhat, and has some writers voice	Below Average - makes very little sense	Incomplete - doesn't make sense
THOROUGHNESS	Excellent - Thorough, detailed illustration of theme and many detailed examples given	Good -Somewhat detailed illustration of theme and a few any examples given	Below Average - Lacking detailed illustration of theme, lacking detailed examples given	Incomplete - Little to no illustration of theme and little or no examples given
